Going live, addresses and security
Redirects from an old address
What to do the day after you rename a page.
On the “Addresses and domains” screen you can add pairs of an old address and a new one inside your site. Anybody who arrives at the old one is sent to the new one.
The redirect is permanent (301), so search engines update what they hold instead of going on pointing at the page that disappeared.
This works on paths inside your site only. A redirect cannot bring a replaced free address back to life — it is no longer yours.
